My experience at Bite: Lip Lab

For my 23rd Birthday, I wanted to do something fun and different and I also wanted to celebrate all weekend. My birthday plans started with an appointment to make a customized lipstick at Bite's Lip Lab in Soho. I have to say the experience was definitely a memorable one, its an experience I've never had before. My package was $60 to make my own color and choosing a finish plus scent.
The look of the lab is very cute and posh, they have almost 100 bottles of lip colors on the wall, which you can choose from depending on your package. An assistant is there with you overstep of the way to hep you understand the process, and create whatever marvelous lip color you want. When you choose your finish (matte, satin or glossy) that's when you begin your color choices. Now mixing colors is an option, say you wanted to see blue and orange together in a matte, that's possible but for a different package. For my package, I could only choose ranges.
I knew going in that I wanted a plum color. All of the lipsticks I wear are nude to light pink, so I wanted something very different than what I was use to. Each color mix was smoothed over a paper palette so you could compare all of the colors you made. I experimented with a blue, just for fun but its safe to say, I'd rather eat blueberries than wear em'!
Once I chose my color, the process of actually creating the lipstick was pretty cool. The lip assistant mixed the color, and put into the lipstick tube, so that it would assume the silhouette of a classic bit lipstick. The tubes were then put into a special freezer for solidifying. In 5 shot minutes, you have your very own lip color that you can honestly say, is unique in every way.
Overall, I have to say the experience is worth the money. It's the most expensive lipstick I've ever owned at $60, but in reality you're also paying for the experience of personalizing the lip color. It took about an hour and half for my sister and I to both make our colors and honestly I cant wait to go back.
