A treasure hunter inspired my NYFW outfit

When I woke up that morning, I had my whole day planned in my head. I'd run downtown to fulfill a couple of errands before meeting up with my sister, and together we'd see her friend showcase her swimsuit collection for a show during New York's hottest week (NYFW.) I'd then spend the rest of the day doing photo shoots in different outfits, something I picked up from other bloggers to save time. Well, the day didn't go as planned. We arrived 5 hours early because didn't read our tickets correctly (READ IS FUNDAMENTAL!), the weather was crazy, I ran around looking for a key piece and my whole itinerary just washed down a drain somewhere in Manhattan.
New York experienced super rainy moments that day, some hours were light and decent enough to shoot in, while others had my sister and I jumping over puddles and running to the car. Somehow I managed to get one brief shoot done during it all. It's obvious I haven't done this in a while, and it sometimes felt like it wasn't meant to be. Nonetheless, we took advantage of the one hour of no rain and got in a few shots for my treasure hunter inspired outfit.

I am a huge movie fanatic. Any chance I get, I'm at home watching famous feature films. My favorite genres are usually syfy or action. One day last week, I was watching Lara Croft 1 & 2, and there was a scene with Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) where she wore an outfit that I thought was so hip, simple but still Urbanesque. Croft gets off a motorcycle in a gold and embroidered bomber, fitted white T, tan jeans, and calf long brown combat boots. Around her thigh are gun holsters, cuz you know, she's a bad ass.
I knew immediately I wanted to mimic this look. Aside from the fact that I secretly want to be an action star, there was something about the outfit was so smoothly badass yet fashion-forward (this movie is 15 years old. ) I just felt like I wanted to try it out.

I tried to get as close as I could. On my top half I wore an army green bomber from Zara, a white fitted T from H&M and my favorite pair of sunglasses, also from H&M. These sunglasses have a unique but gorgeous style. They fall under a cross between aviator (for their lens) and cat-eye (for their shape.) Together, it makes for a wonderfully California-dreaming style in the best possible way. The t-shirt is one of my favorite basic pieces to buy. H&M has them in white, black and dusty pink. It's honestly one of the best things you'll buy from the store. It's super comfortable, clean looking and has the perfect crew neck neckline, which is my least favorite style because I always feel suffocated since I have an endowed chest. But these H&M ones never make me feel tight up there. On the bottom, I managed to find light beige jeans from H&M which I accessorized with a black headband (this was my key piece!) and a belt bag that I actually bought almost 2 years ago, when WhoWhatWear had their first collection with Target. And for shoes I wore long mid-calf leather boots I bought from Zara.

The look was 15 years ago and it worked so well. I'm not a famous treasure finder that kicks ass part-time, but I didn't feel any less cool in this homage to the great LC. And for NYFW, I felt it was a simple but golden streetstyle wear.
